Hi all. Could anyone point me to a report that references any link between the levels of poverty/ social needs in an area, and the number of charities based in that area? I could go into the charity commission website and pick out all the LAs, but I’m just looking for a top line statistic…any advice gratefully received!
Tessa, The Blagrave Trust
HI Tessa,
Not exactly what you are looking for, but Charity base can show you all of the charities in an area - https://charitybase.uk/
Let me know if it helps.
Hi Mor, thanks for replying! There are a lot of Local authorities in the areas I’m interested in which cover a number of areas, so I’m really looking for something more top line that summarises and draws any conclusions….?

Hi Tessa
I produced some data on this for the Young Foundation which they turned into a report called Patchwork Philanthropy - I think it fits your bill.
It’s also worth checking out TSRC and their work on the “Civic Core” - eg https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/generic/tsrc/research/quantitative-analysis/wp-73-idea-civic-core.aspx
Hope this helps!
David
Thanks David – brilliantly useful. Tessa
